Using a series of inspirational documentary films that feature strong female characters as its catalyst, Women RULE™ will be a combination of grassroots leadership workshops, mobile screenings and a curriculum toolkit used to empower and encourage women in developing countries to lead in any field or endeavor they choose.

FRONTRUNNER is the first out of the gate of what will be a series of women-centric films used to kick-start WomenRULE™ workshops around the world. FRONTRUNNER is a film about Massouda Jalal, a courageous woman who against seemingly insurmountable odds, runs for president of Afghanistan. The message of the film is that women can “rule” in the most difficult of places, and that being a “Frontrunner” doesn’t necessarily mean winning the race, or even coming in the top five. FRONTRUNNER was the inspiration for the WomenRULE™outreach plan.

With the help of partner organizations including Film Aid International, WomenRULE™ will hold mobile screenings and grassroots leadership and advocacy workshops using provocative films about a woman's role in shaping global issues. Each film and set of workshops/screenings will be tailored to region, culture, and socio-political climate.

The first WomenRULE™ benefit symposium was successfully held Saturday, April 12, 2008 in Washington, DC. Sponsored by the Washington Wellesley Club, the symposium featured prominent leaders in the areas of politics, development and advocacy, including: Alyse Nelson Bloom (Co-Founder & President, Vital Voices), Zoe Bush '75 (Associate Judge, Superior Court of the District of Columbia), Henrietta Holsman Fore ’70 Administrator, USAID & Director, US Foreign Assistance), Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), and Alan Schechter (Wellesley Professor of Political Science and a keen observer of the political development of Hillary Rodham Clinton).
